Enhancing Web Service Monitoring in High-Traffic Environments – Home Shopping Company H

Home Shopping Company H enhanced its web service monitoring capabilities to ensure stable operations of its revenue-critical online shopping platform, even during peak traffic periods. Challenge

Home Shopping Company H operates in an environment where traffic can surge rapidly due to broadcast-linked promotions and large-scale marketing events, making service stability a critical requirement. The previously deployed APM solution lacked sufficient visibility and analytical capabilities, failing to meet the operational team’s practical monitoring needs. Functional limitations and insufficient vendor support further reduced operational efficiency. In addition the company needed to ensure 24×365 stable operation of its online shopping mall, which directly impacts revenue, while also maintaining the reliability of its Oracle Tuxedo–based call center systems.

Solution

Home Shopping Company H first reinforced its system foundation through Oracle WebLogic Server and Oracle Tuxedo support services, establishing a stable operating environment. To address the limitations of the existing APM solution, JENNIFER was introduced as the core monitoring platform.

An integrated monitoring environment was built across the entire web service stack, enabling real-time transaction tracing and bottleneck analysis.
Through intuitive dashboards the operations team gained immediate visibility into traffic spikes and early signs of service degradation.

Monitoring data was also leveraged to strengthen collaboration between operations and development teams, enabling faster root cause identification and more effective remediation.

Results

  • Resolution of existing APM limitations: A monitoring environment aligned with operational and support requirements
  • Real-time visibility into web service performance: Immediate insight into traffic patterns and system health
  • Improved service stability: Reduced incident frequency across revenue-critical services
